A group of doctors at University of Chicago recently performed a study on a group of 36 adult patients using transcutaneous ultrasound on their face and neck regions. Of the 36 patients who received this procedure , a full 75% of them experienced a 1-2 mm elevation of their facial brow as well as a significant reduction in neck wrinkling. The only side effects noted from the procedure were mild facial swelling and redness.

In fact, using this new application of ultrasound significant improvements were seen in all areas of the face including tightening of neck jowls, softening of wrinkles in the region around the mouth, tightening and smoothing of forehead tissue, and a decrease in crows feet and wrinkles around the eyes. The doctors who performed the procedure believe the results achieved with this modality were actually better than those obtained with other more invasive facial treatment modalities. The procedure was also well tolerated by the patients.

Unfortunately, the ultrasound device used in this study has not yet been approved by the FDA, so its not widely available to the public..
